Curriculum and Assessment Committee Report

This year our committee spent time sharing resources focused on the Global History & Geography, and the U.S. History & Government Curricular. For the new season we will work diligently on analyzing Common Core tasks as they relate to the discipline of Social Studies. Emphasis will be placed on developing additional tasks and supporting co-teaching unit and lesson planning, as well as delivering instruction to the English Language Learner and Special Education populations. In addition to these populations, the delivery of social studies instruction to elementary and middle school students will be explored. A survey is in the process of being created to ascertain the instructional needs of the teachers on these levels and will be distributed electronically. In addition,  a Google Site and wiki have been designed to communicate with and archive resources for social studies educators around the New York State.

Respectfully submitted,

Ollie Fields Thacker, Chairperson

Curriculum and Assessment Committee
